Prototype process

As per our discussion about forging petals. I rolled silver and forged it into a shape of the petal as you can see figure 1 below.

On figure 2 I soldered the forged petals on top of the square bar wire. I haven't finished it the prototype, I still need to add more petals.

Fabiana Gadano

Fabiana Gadano is a contemporary jewellery designer born in Argentina. Gadano recycles PET plastic (polyethylene terephthalate) from water and soda bottles. She named the collection below "nature collection."  I like work her because of the light colours of  the transparent plastic she uses to create jewellery. Looking at her plastic shapes reminds me of the rose petals that I have made, but mine were only made in silver, brass and copper. My imitated rose metal petals were forged, domed and bent in the edges with pliers to imitate the how they curl. I even want to add colour on the rose petals that I will make but I will try enameling technique first.

Rose petals

As I was looking at Donna Barry jewellery, I started to tear up the rose. I manufactured the rose petals using copper. As you can see figure one below; the copper petals are textured to create natural feel on the metal. The first petal on the left I tried to engrave the veins on the petals but they didn't come out right. Forging them was my second option.

On figure two below; I wanted to add colour on the petals. I decided to use enameling technique. Enameling was giving hard time. Since the petals are domed, the enameling powder doesn't stick on the whole petal. It's quite tricky to put powder on the petals. I had to figure out a way how the powder will stay on the petals.
