Non precious materials.

Non precious materials are those materials that have low value. Those material are used to make to make jewellery. Non precious materials are plastic, glass, copper, paper, wood, shells, beads and bone. These materials have their own natural beauty. Non precious materials beauty is that it can be cheap can be sold as expensive. It low value can be valuable. I recognized that mass produced jewellery tends to make use of cheap materials which are non precious materials. These materials express freedom to use whatever materials, color, shape and form. Non precious work reveals color found in materials such as metals, plastic, paper, enamel, patina or paint. Cheap materials as suitable for jewellery creation in their own right. The preciousness of non precious materials is that have low money value and eye pleasing.

Catherine Truman is jewellery designer that carves lime wood. As you can see figure one below. Her purpose is to create abstract forms which in the textures and shapes she sculpts. I think Truman's work relates to my work in terms of texture; her work have line texture, form: it's in 3D form, shape; it's in organic shape and color: she uses shu niku ink to add color in her work.
