Beauty meaning

What is beauty?

I have been searching for definitions of beauty and I'm trying to get my own way of defining the beauty of roses. I'm also looking up for people, authors or artists to understand how they define beauty.

Beauty

Is the combination of qualities, such as, colour, or form, that pleases the aesthetic sense, especially the sight.

Beauty

is the ascription of a property or characteristis to an animal, idea, object, person or place that provides a perceptual experience of pleasure or satisfaction. 

Famous definitions of beauty 

Winckelmann, a German Art Historian  claims that beauty boiled  down to three factors:

• The beauty of form 
• The beauty of idea 
• The beauty of expression, which, he says, is only possible in the presence of the first two factors.

So then, beauty must be the highest form of expression and in turn, highest aim of art.
